Muqeet Khan, was born in Rawalpindi on the 18th of June 1985. Calling himself an ‘army brat’ Muqeet said he was always travelling because the nature of his fathers work. Growing up in different cities, Islamabad is the city, he likes to call ‘home’. With an opening roles in Pakistani film Paarchi that’s starred Hareem Farooq and Ali Rehman, Muqeet also has Pakistani drama Anaa to his credits as an actor. Apart from being a VJ?host for 2 regularly aired TV shows, Muqeet has short films, commercials to his credit too. True to his star sign Gemini, PMR found Muqeet as an easy-going beings who is always down for an adventure or intellectual conversation. Talking to Muqeet was wonderful, he is whimsical, social and you certainly can never be bored when you have Muqeet Khan around.

PMR (ZP): What’s your most embarrassing childhood memory?
MK: It’s still yet to come (Laughing).
PMR (ZP): When did you first perform as an actor/singer?
MK: As an actor, my debut is Anaa. I also had an opening role in the film Parchi and have done commercials, short films, and have been a VJ / host for two regularly aired TV shows. My first performance as a singer was many years ago at a welcome party at Comsats. I had just taken up the guitar 10 days before the event and I found myself on stage with another vocalist. I didn’t look up the entire time and just played the songs and left.
PMR (ZP): Who is your favorite actor/actress?
MK: I think Keanu Reeves is a really versatile actor. He’s very humble in real life but can play roles that are completely opposite from his personality. He’s kind to animals and that just says everything about him.

PMR (ZP): If you weren’t an actor/musician, what would you be up to right now?
MK: I believe I was born to do what I’m doing. So if I weren’t acting and performing, I’d probably be a university dropout. My father had wanted me to study telecom given that it was a growing field at the time. Luckily, one of my mentors suggested I to switch BBA Marketing. It was definitely the right move because marketing gave me the skills and confidence to work in the industry.
PMR (ZP): How did you come into this field?
MK: My friend Haris Hameed and I were on our way back from a jam in Rawalpindi. He was running late to host his radio show on FM 91. So instead of him dropping me home, I tagged along to the studio. I thought I’d wait for him in the car for an hour and listen to his show. Then suddenly I hear Haris & Fasi Zaka on the radio saying, “Muqeet, if you’re listening, lock the car and come in.” He introduced me on air and together we had a record-breaking show. There was a line of callers and like 1500 sms’ coming in. I became a regular on the show and after about 50 episodes I was invited by Alamdar Khan as a guest on his TV show Boom on Live. After that show, the producer said, “yaar tum camera sey dartay nae ho, you are not camera shy.” He asked me for a heads-up live audition with another VJ with audience polling. The audience voted for me and I became a VJ on the show. From there I worked for ATV, PTV, ARY Music & Zindagi.
PMR (ZP): Which musician would you like to collaborate with next?
MK: Ali Azmat and Umair Jaswal. Both are incredible rock vocalists and I would love to bring some rock n roll back to life with them.

PMR (ZP): An instrument which you like to learn & why?
MK: I play the guitar, drums, harmonica and vocals. I would like to improve my skills in each one of them.
PMR (ZP): Which was the turning point in your life/career?
MK: I had a pretty intense breakup, which really helped me mature as a person and as an artist. I think painful life experiences are very important for any artist and it definitely helped me improve my music. In my career, Haris being late was a turning point (laughing).

PMR (ZP): What’s your perfect Sunday afternoon look like?
MK: Good food, good friends who make spontaneous plans, and being in nature.
PMR (ZP): What do you like doing in your spare time? MK: I work out regularly, swim, enjoy all sorts of music, take long walks and other nature activities.
PMR (ZP): What’s your annoying habit?
MK: If I find out that something bugs one of my friends, I will do it over and over until either both of us are laughing hysterically or one of us is storming off in anger. (Laughing)
PMR (ZP): Who is your inspiration?
MK: James Hetfield & Steven Wilson I think if I ever see them live, I’ll faint. I actually get goose bumps listening to their music.
PMR (ZP): What’s your favorite holiday?
MK: I love travelling and exploring nature. I’ve made a few trips to the northern areas of Pakistan, and each visit leaves me inspired and amazed at the natural beauty of our country.
PMR (ZP): What sports do you enjoy watching?
MK: I’m not too into watching sports. I love getting together with friends for sporting events but it’s more about the gathering than watching sports. I do enjoy doing physical activities like swimming, hunting, horseback riding, fishing, and trekking.

PMR (ZP): Thoughts on love, and a little about your love life?
MK: Love is a beautiful feeling. It’s about finding the right partner with whom you have compatibility and understanding.
