Review by: Alina Naghman

For the first time in the history of Kinnaird College for Women, an encouraging singing competition entitled “KC IDOL” took place. It extended over a period of four weeks from auditions to quarter finals and from semi-finals to the most awaited Grand Finale that was held on Thursday, 17th February, 2011.

Top seven contestants out of a hundred and seventeen participants, each struggled hard to win the title and the trophy. The final decision was taken by a panel of celebrity judges including Junaid Khan–Call, Annie Khalid, Omer Nadeem and Haroon Shahid. Despite the celebrity judges creating the hype amongst an audience of over 500 students, a surprise performance by aspiring American rappers called “3rd World” rejoiced the audience with their patriotic songs. They came all the way from the United States and honored Kinnaird with their debut performance in their homeland, Pakistan.

Title of the ‘First KC IDOL’ was awarded to Elishba Rafique whose promising voice is sure to boost the pride of Kinnaird .Hosting such a remarkable event was a privilege for the institute. The entire credit goes to the Humanities President of Kinnaird.
