Revered stage director & writer Naheed Khanum passes away at 68

Much revered stage director and writer who hailed from a family of artists, Naheed Khanum has passed away while under treatment in a private hospital in Lahore on Thursday (30.03.2017).

She introduced many star comedians and dancers of today, Amanullah, Tariq Tadi, Mastana, Hina Shaheen, Naseem Vicky, Nasir Chiniyoti, Beena Sehar and Sheeba Butt.

68-year-old Khanum wrote and directed several hit theatre plays including Hello Uncle, Ishq Nachaya, Time Pass among others.
Reportedly, she suffered of cardiac issues and diabetes for the past ten years.

Her son, Ali Raza is a stage producer at the time while her mother, Perveen Begum was a popular film actor so is her sister, Anjuman.

Naheed is branded as the pioneer of commercial theatre in Pakistan.

Khanum was laid to rest in Lahore yesterday by a large number of theatre personalities who paid their final respects to the woman they hailed as their teacher.
