So the Indian music big wigs always have a problem with Pakistani singers invading their music scenario. Without even a debate it is common knowledge that Pakistani pop singers are far creative and more talented than their contemporaries in India – Atif Aslam and Strings for starters. Moreover, they’re good looking too.
Music director Aadesh Srivastava tried making a few broken lines although, not headlines by saying, “In no way is this a discrimination on the basis of one’s nationality or religion. The thing is we’ve got enormous music talent in our own country, and there is no need to peep in the neighbouring country (Pakistan) for artists.” Later he added, “India is entertaining people who are taking from you without ever giving back anything in return. They (Pakistanis) have never promoted Indian singers.”
So much for his being disgruntled over Pakistani talent that he blamed it on political issues and insensibilities (according to him). One would guffaw at the inconsequential impression that the music director is trying to make. Ironically, he doesn’t make a point. That is something you do when you seek limelight.
