Overload Wins Over Texas!!
Longhorns, Stetsons and the best steak in the world aren’t the only things Texas can be proud of. Texans can be justifiably proud of a unique cultural fest that rivals every other event worldwide in its diversity.
South by Southwest is an annual  cinema, interactive media,   music, performance and conference platform that takes over Austin, Texas, United States every March. Starting with its first session in 1987, the festival has continued to grow in scope and size each year. The 2016 event inaugurated by President Barak Obama on 11th March stretching over 10 days boasted a roster of 3000 music performances, film screenings and seminars. Luminaries of screen and  stage including leading actors such Jake Gyllenhall, Christian Slater and Don Cheadle addressed contemporary performance issues while Pakistan’s only rock band i.e.OVERLOAD made its presence felt with their superb blend of contemporary percussion partnered with traditional rhythms on the ‘dhol’.

Speaking on behalf of OVERLOAD, band leader, drummer and singer Farhad Humayun said, ‘This was a fantastic platform to present the true contemporary face of Pakistan through music and performance. People in Austin were warm, visibly receptive and excited to watch us play. Intrigued by the strange mix of old and new they see Pakistan in a different light after speaking to us. I am thrilled that all my band mates were with me and we had a great time performing at the festival”.

The band returns to Pakistan early April to start work on new projects at home.
