Recently a much awaited Debut album of Qayaas “USS PAAR” came out for which many of their loyal fans had being going nuts, was it worth the hype? Let’s see the brighter side:

Current Pakistani Music Scene:
A small yet promising Rock music industry of Pakistan that started not so long ago when new bands started popping out from every part of the country , things were looking great , but the next thing you know , the plague of INDIAN MOVIE FAME FEVER paralyzed even the best of the lot. Bands that were once revolutionizing the music of Pakistan started making songs to impress Indian labels and producers, killed their originality, and are still doing so, ever wonder why Junoon was and still is epic? THEY WERE REAL. So in came Qayaas , an all star band I must say with the kind of lineup they have , they certainly tried to inject some life into current music scene of Pakistan by not being too traditional and releasing something that was already floating in the market. Their kind of music may not be a cup of tea for majority of music listeners in Pakistan, but hey, they tried to be as original and professional as possible, music of Qayaas can be related to a lot of western bands but doing something of that level in this part of the world needs appreciation.

Production Level:

Talking about production level, well when you have Sarmad Ghafoor and Khurram Waqar in a bands line up then don’t expect anything less than perfect when it comes to the quality of production. All those musicians and producers out there coming up with a new song every day, if you want to do something, then this is how you do it. Vocals and each and every instrument sounded “A”, everything blended in perfectly. Some newbees and wanabees complain about lack of quality studios in the country and if there are any then they are out of their budget , well if you can’t afford it then wait for it , get yourself a piggy bank for God’s sake and stop being so desperate , music or any form of art is a passion and not a shortcut to money and girls , it requires hard work , fruity loops will not do any justice to your talent even if you have any.

Real Fans or just Facebook LIKES ?:
Whatever the fan following I have seen of this band has really amazed me, they didn’t do any cheap trick of making some lame battle of bands kind of contest on their FB PAGE , making other bands desperate to join who then have to ask their friends “ HEY DO US A FAVOR, LIKE THIS PAGE, THEN LIKE OUR POST CUZ WE ARE SO DAMN SEXY” no sir , they have won their fans by their work . Some of their songs were already out and after listening to which I wasn’t expecting much from the unheard stuff in the album , and wasn’t much surprised after finally listening to it either , for me the songs are a bit laid back , but for the fans , it is the best thing ever happened to them, as one fan Muhammad Dar ( Punjabi rapper AKA Xpolymer Dar) expressed his feeling after listening to the album.
“I just had sex with the CD. I was banging my head while she kept spinning.
Sounded flawless, especially when she screams “Teray Wastay” [inquilab]. “

ALBUM AVAILABLE ONLINE . . . . WTF ?
So yesterday, I clicked my home page, and first thing I saw was, DOWNLOAD QAYAAS’s COMPLETE ALBUM ONLINE , you are kidding right? No wait, that was serious  , I knew this was gona happen , someone was gona grab the CD , not to listen but to be MR.SUPER COOL on facebook and be proud of being an ASS , ya that’s right , “ IM SO COOL THAT I TOTALLY RIPPED OFF SOMEONES HARDWORK , AND YOU CANT DO A THING ABOUT IT CUZ IM A BITCH” . Piracy, we can’t do anything about it can we?

So, I guess I may not be a fan of Qayaas but looking at current scene , bands like Qayaas , Katharsis , Takatak (forgive me if Im not mentioning any good bands name here) should be supported for being different and honest with their work . Promotions of undeserving bands and musicians should be taken as a serious crime.
