VJ Sehrish – ARY Musik Interview by Sohaib Shah
PMR. Let’s start from the beginning. You were born in ?
Sehrish: Nairobi, Kenya.
PMR. What is your ultimate style statement and what is your lookout on the changing trends?
Sehrish: For me style is anything that I look good in. Something maybe trendy but might not suit me, so I’m not going to wear it just because it’s in fashion. I need to feel at ease in my clothes. Always create your own style whether it’s just wearing plain jeans and a t-shirt or a shalwar kameez, your own unique style will always get noticed.
PMR. Tell us from the very start how did you get into the VJ profession? What was your feeling when you faced the camera for the very first time?
Sehrish: I started out with radio and once I made my niche there, I decided it was time to try something new. It was definitely a whole different ball game from radio. I am generally a shy person in real life so there was this slight nervousness about coming on screen but then there was also a different thrill and excitement to it, since I was live on camera.
PMR. How is the experience so far of switching to ARY Musik with Brand new show ‘Girls Republic’ and with new team?
Sehrish: I’m loving the new atmosphere at ARY Musik, a change is always great and welcomed by me. My team is amazing and my fans love the show, that’s what makes me enjoy Girls Republic.
PMR. You opted for this field, how did your parents react to this? Is your family all excited about you?
Sehrish: My parents have always supported my decisions, a bit hesitant initially, but once they saw my passion for what I do, they told me to reach for the sky. Infact, very often they watch my shows and give me some constructive advice to improve myself.
PMR. You’re so very glowing, and so healthy, please share with us the secret to this.
Sehrish: I’m a very fussy eater but I make sure that I eat three meals a day and drink seasonal juices. Since I wear a lot of professional makeup, I make sure I wash my face atleast twice a day with a good face wash, I moisturize my skin and of course use a toner…If you follow these steps you will be glowing as well!
PMR. What pushes you to get to your achievements?
Sehrish: Well I’m blessed with great opportunities and am driven with the goal to be the best and make the most of what comes my way. I do get criticized along the way but I just cast that aside and make myself believe that I am here for a reason and want to be
remembered for the work I do.
PMR. If you were stranded on a desert Island and could keep one beauty product and one wardrobe item. What would that be and why?
Sehrish: Well I don’t go anywhere without my lip gloss, so that would be one thing…..And I love my Juicy Couture jersey slimfit jumpsuit, that’s super comfortable and keeps me cool.
PMR. Are you looking forward to work in music videos?
Sehrish: I actually have been in one music video by Kamran Ahmed…It was a great experience and I’d love the opportunity to work in other videos if the singer/band is good.
PMR. Whom do you consider the best Male VJ and the best Female VJ, that you deserve are worth an award?
Sehrish: I think that all the VJs in Pakistan work really hard and bring something new to the table, whether it’s their style of talking, the clothes they wear, the way they interact with the audience or their personality. But if I had to pick I would say that I really enjoyed watching VJ Maiez and VJ Mahira but unfortunately both of them are not VJing anymore!! I loved their work and personally thought they were great VJs and very entertaining 🙂
PMR. According to you, how efficient is the media of Pakistan, and what do you think about its progress? What are it’s further requirements for a better future and environment?
Sehrish: I think we’ve come a long way and have grown over the years, but there is need for better quality and more refinement. Sometimes I feel that there is more of quantity than quality and we end up just making a mess of simple shows. At the same time since the media has become really strong there is also need for a sense of responsibility.
PMR. Who is that lucky musician you’d like to dine with?
Sehrish: Definitely Rahat Fateh Ali Khan…It would be great to sit down and talk to him about his achievements, inspirations and ofcourse enjoy his melodious voice!
PMR. What impression does PMR (www.pakmediarevolution.net) make on you?
Sehrish: I am very impressed by this website, I think it’s a great avenue to promote underground musicians. I personally visit PakMediaRevolution to catch up on
what’s going in the Pakistani media industry…It has all the latest news about each and every Pakistani Celebrity and what they working on. It’s a rocking website and kudos to the team for working very hard to put up such an awesome website!
PMR: Thanks Sehrish For Your Precious Time!!
