Small Interview: Barbut Band
Q: First of all, tell us how ‘Barbut’ Band formed & why this name?
A: Barbut was formed way back in 2005 in Multan. The band was brainchild of Danial (the lead vocalist). Band name was chosen by keeping in view the music genre of the band as Barbut (Persian word) means an instrument based on strings i.e: Sittar, rubab and guitar etc.
Initially the band was just doing cover songs in different gigs and concerts on local level. Afterwards Barbut came with their first original “Hum Rahain” in 2006 and instantly it gain popularity on internet and underground music scene of Pakistan. After the debut release Barbut participated in many gigs and concerts nationwide and made there presence noticeable.
Q: After long time, Barbut is back, how you will explain your excitement?
A: Ahh… Yes we are excited… As Hum Rahain got immense appreciation even from the big names of this industry and from the fans. But after releasing the first song there was different factors which affected the band’s on going process and it turns into a long break. Since long we were planning to come back but then there were studies of band members and other things which somehow became the reason of this long delay. Now we have planned to come with an album and serious home work is being done for that.
Q: Barbut has really appreciated on the time of your debut release; can you disclose the names who supported Barbut the most?
A: our parents always supported us specially the mother of Danial who wrote lyrics for almost all of the songs. Then there were few friends who were always there for anything band needed. Some artists and media persons also supported us a lot. We would like to take a few names. These are Faisal Rana, Ali Raza, Sidra Hameed, Sanwal, Manjoo, Ahmad Zubi, Sami Gillani, Hadi Imran, Murtaza Niaz aka Murzie, Faisal Khan (Manager Roxen), Atif Aslam, Sheraz Aslam and VJ Mahira.
Q: Tell us about your debut song ‘Hum Rahein’ and 2nd come back single ‘Jeevan’?
A: our debut song had an intense feel. The song was about a person who has lost his everything but still has the hope to live. This hope is the USP of Barbut’s compositions. You will find this one hope in our everysong.
Jeevan have bit lighter mood as compared to Hum Rahain. Jeevan is romantic song which describes cute and innocent feelings of love.
Q: Tell us about Barbut`s first ever performance on stage?
A: BarBut’s first ever performance was in 2005 in a mega event in Multan. It was a concert which had Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar and Sheraz Upel. Barbut opened the show infront of at least 2000 people.
Q: Tell us about Barbut`s next project and when we can expect your music video & album in market?
A: BarBut’s next project would be a Sufi Kalam or a Patriotic number as the homework for both is completed. Video can be expected soon but album would take time. As we are coming back after a long break, the compositions which were made way back, wouldn’t work now the way those should. Trends have been changed. We are working on new compositions and on some new dimension of music to explore. Need your prayers and love 🙂
Q: How do you guys react on the monopoly of some record labels as an upcoming band?
A: honestly speaking this is not at all encouraging. You know it is very difficult for a new band to release their album. I can name many underground and talented bands/artists which are underground since years and there are artists with bogus stuff having deals by those record labels. Still what we believe that if you are truly talented and hard working GOD will always open a way for you. So one shouldn’t lose courage and should focus on his work.
Q: How do you see the internet market for upcoming/underground bands in terms of marketing tool and what does u expect?
A: We think that this is the only market for underground bands… lolzz… in fact this is a great tool and all those websites/portals/blogs/forums really deserve huge round of applause which are working to introduce and then further enhance the hidden talent of their own country.
Q: what do u think about PMR and how you will rate it ?? help us to improve more 😀
A: PMR is a great portal. We know PMR since last 5 years. PMR always supported new talent and introduced them everywhere on net. We rate PMR 10/10 :). One suggestion: there is a lot of load on main page which makes it difficult to browse the site for a dial up user. If you would make some more pages it would be much faster :). Rock on PMR 🙂
