Today, there was a concert in London.
It was a charity concert where profits would be going for rehabilitation of Swat victims. The other purpose was to celebrate and mark the independecne day of Pakistan. However, charity being the main purpose.
Quite a few artists were contacted for this. The list included:
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
Shafqat Amanat Ali
Abrar ul Haq
Shahzad Roy
Jawad Ahmed
Mustafa Zahid ( roxen wala)
Nadia Khan
Atif Aslam
All other artists apart from Atif Aslam did the concert free of charge, as it was charity. They only asked for their air fare, stay/lodging etc. They were all given their air fare, and as a thank you note, they were booked in a hotel for three days.
Now what did Atif Aslam do, when he was contacted, and told that it was a charity concert? He said, he will charge £15,000 pounds for this, all stay and air fare for him and 5 other people. And he would not perform/share the stage with anyone else apart from Rahat Fateh Ali.
When he was told that all others were doing it for free,he said, he couldnt care less. And that Indians are paying him for a concert in Uk around the same time, hence he would perform there.
